Charlotte strikes back

Seven- year- old, beatsmassive strokes – that’s something to sing about!

-

Being young and healthy is no protection against stroke, as Charlotte and her mother Leila discovered. Charlotte was hit by a major stroke in the middle of the night andwas rushed to the hospital. She remained in a coma for two days and suffered more massive strokes. When she came round she couldn’t speak, move or even blink. The doctors prepared Leila for theworst. But Leila didn’t give up. While she was singing to her daughter, Charlotte struck back and smiled. Within two weeks she was speaking. Three years on, she is running and playing again. ‘It’s a miracle to have Charlotte with us’ Leila says. Charlotte’s incredible recovery was helped by the huge advances in stroke research we funded, which has completely changed the way stroke is treated. But with only a tenth of the funding given to cancer research, there’s so much more to do. You don’t need to wait for a miracle, or even sing! You can join Charlotte in striking back against stroke by leaving us a gift in your Will.
