Huawei unveiled its newest mobile phone processor, Kirin 970, likely to be included in its upcoming flagship phone, the Mate 10. The new processor includes advanced artificial intelligence, inclusive of an octacore chip built upon a 10nm manufacturing process with 5.5 billion transistors. The processor enables AI on all future phones, courtesy of a NPA (neural processing unit) which Huawei states can offer 25 times the performance, with 50 times the power efficiency of a quad-core Cortex-A73 cluster. This was found in the previous generation processor, Kirin 960. Kirin 970 will also offer support for HDR 10 and 4K video recording at 60 fps (frames per second).
