FRANK SPARKS A FEUD
Mastectomy dramas aside, Peggy had another battle on her hands thanks to Frank’s notoriously roving eye. Having already been married twice before, Frank still had feelings for second wife Pat Wicks (Pam St Clement) but that didn’t stop him from marrying a besotted Peggy in April 1999. Throughout the marriage, Frank instigated a passionate affair with Pat, finally deciding to desert Peggy to flee town with her.
Never one to be overlooked or underestimated, Peggy found the sickening “Dear Jane” letter that Frank left for her and took revenge by reading the missive to the crowded pub in front of the shame-faced lovers. Then, with a vicious slap to Frank and Pat’s faces, she threw them out and divorced Frank, sending him scurrying away from Walford. The sordid affair was enough to spark a long-time, bitter rivalry between Peggy and Pat, although in later years, they put aside their animosity and formed a strong but combative friendship.
