THE QUEEN VIC BURNS
In 2010, serious trouble arose when Peggy inadvertently caused Phil to lose all contact with his longestranged daughter Louise (then-Brittany Papple). Blaming his mother, Phil became re-addicted to alcohol and crack cocaine and when Peggy imprisoned him in the pub to get him clean and sober a rampaging Phil struck back and taunted her about destroying her cherished public house. During a fierce argument, Phil set the pub on fire, only to become trapped in the inferno. After he was rescued, a shattered Peggy stood on the Square and screamed at the fire brigade to let it burn, finally realising what she’d done to her son. The next day, after surveying the ashes one last time, Peggy left Walford, seemingly forever.
