played by Mandy McEl­hin­ney Sea­son three was a roller-coaster ride for Ma­tron Frances Bolton who started out on a mis­sion to get Stan­ton House re­opened. With the doors shut it meant un­mar­ried preg­nant women had nowhere to turn. Af­ter form­ing an un­likely al­liance with Joan, Stan­ton House was back in busi­ness. But the main strug­gle for Ma­tron was re­pair­ing the strained re­la­tion­ship she had with her son Chris (Lin­coln Younes).

He’d not long come back into her life when he started up a ro­mance with sin­gle mother and club singer An­nie (Gra­cie Gil­bert). Chris was in love and des­per­ate to marry An­nie when she found out she was preg­nant. Ma­tron tried to in­stil in Chris the value of a good, hon­est job and de­spite her reser­va­tions ended up re­al­is­ing An­nie was just what Chris needed to get his life on the straight and nar­row.

With Chris, An­nie and their kids head­ing off into the sun­set to elope, Ma­tron will be search­ing for a new pur­pose this sea­son. She is con­tin­u­ing to rule Stan­ton House with an iron fist as chal­lenges threaten to come her way.
