SOME SHOCKING REVELATIONS ABOUT HER FIANCÉ Adam LEAVE Victoria ENRAGED, AS SHE PUTS ANOTHER PERSON’S LIFE IN JEOPARDY
Local businessman Adam Barton is a total wreck, much like most of the junk he deals with at the scrapyard. For weeks, he’s been keeping his fiancée Victoria Sugden in the dark about his one-night stand with village vet Vanessa Woodfield, especially after discovering that Vanessa is pregnant with a baby that could be his child.
Adam’s (Adam Thomas) nervousness doesn’t go unnoticed by those around him and to make matters worse, Vanessa (Michelle Hardwick) who has led her boyfriend Kirin (Adam Fielding) to believe the baby is his, panics when Kirin’s father Rakesh (Pasha Bocarie) discovers the truth. He orders Vanessa to have an abortion, as he says a child would ruin his son’s life, but Vanessa’s erratic demeanour worries Adam, who admits to his mother Moira (Natalie J. Robb) that he may have gotten Vanessa pregnant.
Outraged, Moira demands that her son and Vanessa come clean with Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) and Kirin or she will. They also must get DNA tests to prove paternity once and for all. Chastened, Adam and Vanessa follow through, only for Kirin to interrupt the testing. Pale-faced, Vanessa admits her paternity quandary as Adam disappears to The Woolpack to confront Victoria.
However, Kirin steals Adam’s thunder, blurting out to the pub patrons about the problem. Shattered and heartbroken, Victoria screams at Adam to get out and publicly evicts him from Keeper’s Cottage, refusing to hear his grovelling apologies.
Her thoughts quickly turn to revenge and after hearing that Adam is the baby’s father (courtesy of a vindictive Rakesh changing the DNA results), she tears out of The Woolpack and speeds off down the street. Horrified to almost run down Adam, Victoria brutally argues with her fiancé until she speeds off again, straight into an unwitting Ashley (John Middleton) whose crumpled body bounces onto the bonnet and crashes to the road.
In the aftermath, Victoria knows she’s going to have to live with the consequences of her actions including the fact that she may have killed or seriously injured an innocent man.
