Soap World - - THE GOSS! -

“Good afternoon. Shortland Street Accident and Emergency Centre,” were the first words spoken on the first episode of New Zealand soap

Shortland Street when it premiered 25 years ago on May 25, 1992.

To celebrate the show’s silver anniversary and that iconic moment, the soap has brought back Marj Neilson Brasch, the character who uttered the inaugural line for the anniversary episodes that will air here in Australia in late June.

Actress ELIZABETH MCRAE, who plays Marj, has returned alongside other beloved characters Nick and Waverley Harrison, and others, for the 90-minute special episode that is said to feature a “cataclysmic event”, according to producer MAXINE FLEMING.

Possibly three new arrivals are about to descend onto the

Coronation Street cobbles. Rumours are swirling that the popular

ALISON KING will reprise her role of Carla Connor by year’s end. Despite branding the stories as “merely speculation” a Corrie spokesperson refused to confirm or deny the reports. Meanwhile, former Mrs Brown’s

Boys star SIMON DELANEY is to play a mysterious and currently unnamed character in upcoming episodes while UK comedian Vic Reeves has signed on for a threemonth guest stint playing TV presenter Colin who becomes embroiled in the lives of the Street’s residents, especially Norris and Mary.

After three years as Erica Holroyd on Corrie, CLAIRE KING has announced that she’s quit the role and will depart screens in August. It’s not yet known how Erica and the actress, who wants to pursue other challenges, will leave the Street.

A family of five and a recently departed hunk have just been signed to become full-time cast members on EastEnders. Following a popular one-month stint in Walford as Woody Woodward earlier this year, LEE

RYAN has now signed a one-year contract to return to the series where “he’ll undoubtedly cause a stir”, according to set talk.

Meanwhile, the Taylor family is to descend on the square. LORRAINE

STANLEY, who appeared on EE last year as Rat and Ferret pub owner Thelma Bragg, will play “the noisy, brash and chain-smoking” matriarch Karen Taylor, while former Benidorm star DANNY WALTERS is to play her protective son Keanu.

TV newcomer CLAIR NORRIS will play Keanu’s fame-seeking sister Bernadette while real-life siblings

play Riley and Chatham, who have “learning difficulties”. The Taylors will be on screens in a few months.

The murder of two people is expected to take place later this year on UK episodes of Emmerdale following confirmation that John bowe (Lawrence) and Gillian

Kearney (Emma) have been axed from the soap.

For months it has been rumoured that Lachlan White will murder his grandfather Lawrence and Emma in a shooting spree close to Christmas 2017 and Bowe has added weight to the story saying that the door hasn’t been left open for his return.

Emmerdale actress isabel hodgins (Victoria) was caught up in the recent Manchester terror attacks that killed and injured attendees at the Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena.

Attending the concert, Hodgins said she was still inside the area when the explosion occurred. Speaking of her ordeal on Good

Morning Britain, Hodgins said: “At first, i didn’t know if it was somebody with a gun. There was just one bang and that was it. There was an overpowering smell of burning and down the corridor there was a lot of white smoke.” Meanwhile, Coronation

Street, which is filmed and set in Manchester, paid tribute to the victims during the episode that aired in the UK on May 24.

During the show’s closing credits, an image of floral tributes was shown on screen with the words “We Stand Together”.

A trio of very hot men is coming to Hollyoaks. During the show’s upcoming episodes set and filmed in ibiza, Adam Woodward and Jacob Roberts will debut as seriously sexy best mates Brody Hudson and

Damon Kinsella who will go on to move to the village and become prermanent characters. Meanwhile, Gary lucy who played the popular Luke Morgan from 1999 to 2002 is returning to the show as a regular with a 12-month contract. All three will be seen on screens later this year.

Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe (Mercedes), who is heavily pregnant with her first child, has announced that she’s taking 12 months of maternity leave to focus on her new addition, meaning that Mercedes will leave the village for a year. No details on when the exit will take place are known.
