Scandalous Sabotage

Soap World - - DAYTIME Y&R -

Throwing caution to the wind, Billy and Phyllis have reunited in a red-hot love affair, knowing that despite the complications surrounding the feelings of their exes Victoria and Jack, they can’t deny the urge to be together any longer. What the lovers don’t know is that Cane has stumbled upon their secret liaison and is mischievously planning to use it to make trouble for Billy who is making Cane’s professional life at Brash & Sassy a misery.

Aware of Billy (Jason Thompson) and Phyllis’s (Gina Tognoni) ongoing inability to tell Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Jack (Peter Bergman) about their reconciliation, Cane (Daniel Goddard) takes Juliet’s (Laur Allen) advice to formulate a plan to expose Billy as a fraud.

Spying a text on Billy’s phone from Phyllis summoning him to the Jabot elevator, Cane lures Victoria to the lift as she rushes off for an important appointment, certain he can orchestrate her finding Billy and Phyllis in the throes of passion. Sure enough, the plan works and as the doors open, Victoria is horrified to see Billy and Phyllis kissing.

Appalled that Billy didn’t want her to find out so publicly, Victoria hisses that he keeps on hurting her. Defensively, Billy insists that Victoria kept him on a string for months without committing and he can’t keep dangling forever. He didn’t think she wanted him so he turned to Phyllis who gloats that she’s capable of giving Billy what Victoria can’t. Watching the fallout, Cane happily declares that Billy will no longer ride roughshod over him and offers his support to Victoria while also considering Jack’s advice to manipulate Billy’s sacking from Brash & Sassy for the business and Victoria’s benefits.

Meanwhile, Victoria aims to make trouble for the new lovers by upsetting Phyllis with constant demands on Billy about his family commitments to the kids. Cane is pleased with her scheming especially when he learns that Victoria hopes to distract Billy with a family vacation during a company business trip to LA.

Not wanting to see Billy hurt Victoria again, Cane plots to destroy Billy’s professional reputation during the LA filming of a Brash & Sassy commercial. Soon enough, Billy is publicly accused of illegal gambling and Cane secretly delights in his downfall as Victoria declares that their contract with the pro hockey league to promote their products is dead and buried because of his stupidity.

To further drive the wedge between Billy and Victoria deeper, Cane suggests Victoria repair the damage by reducing Billy’s company responsibilities and is delighted when Victoria finds a naked Phyllis in Billy’s hotel bed. She scoffs at Phyllis and Billy’s audacity and loudly proclaims that Billy is a spent force because things can’t get any worse for him.
