Sold On Sunshine Coast - - Suburb Profile | Buddina -

BUDDINA is fast becoming a thriving suburb of the Sunshine Coast and with many notable features, the local beaches are not to be missed.

It’s hard to picture prior to the ‘60s. Buddina, along with the entire Kawana stretch, was nothing but undeveloped wallum country.

Named by early developer, Alfred Grant; it wasn’t until July 1960 that development of the Kawana suburb was started by Caloundra – Mooloolaba Development Corporation Ltd.

Owner, Alfred Grant, saw great potential behind all the swamp grass and mangroves, and started marketing land.

Fast forward to today and we have a humble little suburb sandwiched between ocean and river with a whole lot of goodness in between.

With the Point Cartwright lighthouse standing tall at the point, this lighthouse has become an iconic landmark of the Sunshine Coast.

Popular with fitness groups and individuals, the local hill at Buddina offers a popular outdoor gym, without the fees.

People run up and down the hill for exercise, while at the same time they are treated to the gorgeous view that overlooks the Pacific ocean, and gives a front on view of Mooloolaba.

For a less strenuous activity, the coastal boardwalk along Point Cartwright is another option taking in some of Buddina’s natural beauty.

This locale is dog friendly and welcomes one and all to enjoy a pleasant sunny, active day out.

With an abundance of trendy cafes, this area offers a wonderful location for that early morning workout.

Running tracks stretch for kilometres, and the awesome scenery is truly not to be missed.

Just ask a local and they’re sure to agree, these are the main ingredients for a laid back coastal lifestyle.

Not only is this suburb all about location, there is the added advantage of the stunning flora and fauna.

Turtle season generally starts in October when the shores stretching from Caloundra to Buddina are blessed with Loggerhead Turtles and on rare occasions, the Green Turtle.

If your timing is right, it is during this period that you might experience the turtles nesting their eggs.

Thanks to the assistance of TurtleCare who continually monitor and patrol the beaches ensuring the turtles stay protected, these reptiles and their eggs have the best possible chance of survival.

Privileged with access to such facilities as Buddina Primary School, Kawana Waters Surf Life Saving Club, Kawana Library, Kawana Tennis Club and the Coast’s second largest shopping complex, Kawana Shoppingworld, Buddina has a lot to offer within a compact area.

As a small beachside community, Buddina residents are well catered for.

With a good mix of low-set brick and tile homes, units and prestige oceanfront properties opposite the beach or on the canal.

Buddina is very accepting of the fast-growing population of the Sunshine Coast.

With residential construction under way between the Kawana Shoppingworld and the beachfront, the area will soon further accommodate those who are wanting to live a quiet, yet coastal lifestyle.

Whether you fancy a swim in the river, or a surf at the point, Buddina offers a premium lifestyle location that will have you wanting more.
