World discovers a paradise booming
THE Sunshine Coast has long held a secret of being a wonderful place to live, work and play.
Now the world is beating a path to its door. It has been identified as one of the fastest growing precincts in Southeast Queensland, with some major infrastructure projects well under way.
Both the National Australia Bank and a recent BIS Schrapnel Report identified the Sunshine Coast as one of the best property markets in the country at the present time.
It is one of Australia’s largest regional economies, with the region riding a wave of unprecedented infrastructure investment across all sectors including health, education, transport and tourism totalling $18 billion.
The recent opening of the $1.8 billion Sunshine Coast University Hospital was Australia’s first new – not replacement – tertiary, teaching hospital in more than 25 years.
Then there is the emerging Maroochydore CBD, Australia’s only greenfield central business district and which covers 53 hectares in Maroochydore.
Other game-changers include the expansion of the Sunshine Coast Airport to international standard and the recently completed major expansion of the University of the Sunshine Coast.
