Not the first-ever noise cancellers, and Bose had delivered professional noise-cancellers before, but the QC3 nailed that executive travel style which has defined consumer noise-cancelling headphones ever since. On a SwissAir flight in 1978, when ear-tubes were being replaced by electronic headphones, Dr Amar Bose was so disappointed by the background noise of the plane that he had a notepad of equations by the time he touched down on home soil. Much time and investment later, the QC3’s combination of sound quality, executive style and powerful NC technology brought buyers in droves.
