Queensland’s Electronic Living scores another finalist, and the mission here was to deliver a final product that’s simple to use, reliable, and expandable. The home’s systems are also described as ‘robust’, including seven audio zones and six video zones, all with 4K screens and involving with no fewer than 18 sources. There’s automation of all lighting, motorised blinds, louvres, fans, heat lamps and water features, including the provision of ‘welcome’, ‘away’ and various mood scenes. There are 10 separate zones of HVAC control, an IP video intercom system, and eight zones of motion sensors and multiple CCTV cameras connected to an 8TB QNAP NAS drive. An upgradable Pakedge network operates throughout the home.

Electronic Living had the challenge of new home construction with all walls, floors and ceilings cast in concrete on site. “This meant meticulous attention to detail was required in the initial planning, to ensure a conduit cable plan was executed with precision,” says the installer. “Our team had to be on-site for every pour to ensure the conduits were properly located and back-box terminations cast for all locations. Every single cable in this house was installed into conduit and redundancy was factored in, as with these construction methods there would never be a second chance to install later.”
