If your music collection comprises a high number of 24-bit FLAC files, the WXAD-10 will serve you well. Of course, if you’ve opted for DSD, then its appeal is rather more limited – although I wouldn’t rule out a firmware update to resolve this issue at some point.

Overall, this Yamaha box can be considered solid value – and if you’re planning to upgrade a sound system of some value, then its ticket price may well prove inconsequential. I certainly wouldn’t flinch at adding it to a premium stack.
