A CAST of about 60 held its first full dress rehearsal for the production of Cats on Saturday.

Director Craig Reiger said the cast was doing the production justice.

“They’ve really come together as a group, even though some of these guys are brand new to the stage,” he said.

“There are a lot of friendships that have been formed, and they’re all bouncing off each other to bring out their best.”

Mr Reiger said the show was just the beginning of theatre productions in the South Burnett.

“There’s a huge base here in Kingaroy for the performing arts.

“With more opportunities for people to experience the performing arts, it can only go from strength to strength.”

The Andrew Lloyd Webber classic will hit the stage at Town Hall next month.

The show is being hosted by South Burnett Musical Comedy Society, featuring cast members from as far as Yarraman and Murgon.

The society secured the rights to perform the show two years ago.

Opening night is Friday, August 22.
