Big plans for bud­get funds

TOURIST parks will re­ceive a boost in fund­ing with new cab­ins to be built at Lake Boon­dooma and Yal­lakool Car­a­van Park. Un­like the pools, the parks are one of the coun­cil owned as­sets that are turn­ing a profit, bring­ing in more than $1 mil­lion each year.

Mayor Wayne Kratz­mann said the parks were an as­set and as part of the bud­get, three new cab­ins will be built at each park at cost of about $600,000. And Cr Kratz­mann said there might be room for one more af­ter the State Govern­ment do­nated a fur­ther $96,000.

“Dur­ing the hol­i­days the cab­ins are al­most com­pletely booked out and that brings more peo­ple to the town and to the re­gion,” he said.
