Multiple wheelie bin cost relief

South Burnett Times - - SOUTH BURNETT BUDGET -

SMALL businesses with multiple wheelie bins will enjoy lower costs for waste collection – a first-time reduction in fees.

Collection of each 240-litre bin has been reduced by $96, bringing it closer in line with residential fees. The move to reduce costs was made possible by streamlining the waste collection contract.

JJ Richards took over the contract on June 30, servicing the entire South Burnett and offering a lower overall cost because of the higher volume.

Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said the council had worked tirelessly to calculate how much the commercial charge could be reduced without impacting residential fees.

“I am thrilled, it may not be a lot, but every bit counts,” Cr Kratzmann said.
