Police at dam
THE Kingaroy Road Policing Unit, together with Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol, carried out a one- day operation at Boondooma Dam during the 2017 Boondooma Dam Family Yellowbelly Fishing Competition on Saturday. More than 20 boats were intercepted for drug and alcohol testing and routine checks. Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol issued six official cautions for minor offences, including fishing without a fishing licence, being unable to produce a fishing licence and use of incorrect floats, as well as marine infringement notices for entering a bathing reserve and use of an unregistered vessel. Senior Constable Jade Miller said it was pleasing to see no positive drug or alcohol tests detected on the water. “Of course, when it comes to drink and drug driving, the same rules apply on the water as they do on the road,” he said.
