Clas­si­cal gui­tarist tour­ing for Life­line

IF YOU’VE been to Kin­garoy Shoppingworld to­day or yes­ter­day you may have seen Mur­ray Man­del play­ing some re­lax­ing gui­tar.

Syd­ney man Mr Man­del is tour­ing the coun­try over a three year pe­riod, stop­ping at towns along the way per­form­ing street gui­tar to raise money for Life­line.

So far he has raised more than $11,000.

He played at Kin­garoy Shoppingworld on Mon­day and Tues­day this week, be­fore head­ing to Gympie to con­tinue his tour.

“I want to con­nect with as many Aus­tralians as I can and get the mes­sage out there for this Aus­tralian hu­man­i­tar­ian or­gan­i­sa­tion,” he said.

“I’ve had lots of in­ter­est­ing con­ver­sa­tions and met lots of in­ter­est­ing peo­ple.”

Since he was born, Mr Man­del has had pro­found hear­ing loss in both ears.

He started to study

clas­si­cal gui­tar in 2010 play­ing at pri­vate func­tions and fundrais­ing events.

Mr Man­del plans to visit more than 150 des­ti­na­tions around Aus­tralia un­til 2020.
