Helping women in Aussie sport
TEAM Harvey Norman is bringing women in sport to the fore.
As a sponsor of women in sport for more than a decade, with involvement ranging from grassroots to elite levels, Harvey Norman is leading the push to ensure female athletes get the recognition they deserve.
As a long- standing supporter of rugby league, Harvey Norman helped establish the Women In League program in 2007.
Its involvement continues to grow with sponsorship of the Jillaroos national team, both the NSWRL and QRL women’s teams, and the 2017 Women’s Rugby League World Cup.
The Harvey Norman team is proud to have been part of the Women’s AFL inaugural season as a partner of the GWS Giants Women’s AFL team and also a major sponsor of the Auburn Giants, Australia’s first predominantly multicultural women’s AFL club.
In the motorsport world they’re part of the team behind Simona De Silvestro, the first full- time female driver in the V8 Supercars Championship.
Harvey Norman gets behind athletes like Katie Kelly, a paratriathlete and gold medallist at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.
From a broadcast perspective, sponsorship helps ensure women’s sports reaches as many viewers as possible.
In 2017, they sponsored broadcasts of the AFLW and AFLW All- Stars, the VFL Women’s Grand Final, the inaugural Super Netball season and the Netball Diamonds Test matches.
The profile of women’s sports has taken a huge leap in the past 12 months, and Harvey Norman’s support and investment played a part in that change.
