DIGGING DEEP WITH MATHS SKILLS
YEAR 4– 6 students are using their mathematical knowledge to measure and create a scale drawing of a school garden.
The students are going to then plan and design a garden that will attract and help wildlife co- exist in the school.
Shrubs, trees and ground covers are being investigated to see if they will offer food, shelter and protection for native wildlife.
Some wildlife species they hope to attract are birds, possums, bandicoots and lizards.
Once the plan is created, students will build the garden later this term.
The Prep to Year 2 students have enjoyed learning about the weather, landscapes and resources.
The school used age appropriate pedagogies, which allowed students to be creative and rich in scientific language when choosing how to show their learning through individual projects.
