BE­NARKIN STU­DENT TO CARRY QUEEN’S BA­TON

CON­GRAT­U­LA­TIONS to Year 4 Be­narkin School stu­dent Sage Volschenk on be­ing se­lected to carry the Queen’s Ba­ton on its 100 day jour­ney across the na­tion in the lead- up to the Gold Coast 2018 Com­mon­wealth Games.

Sage was nom­i­nated by prin­ci­pal Kerry Christie and was one of the lucky 3800 Aus­tralians to be se­lected.

Pre­mier An­nasta­cia Palaszcuzk said the list of names were se­lected through a com­mu­nity nom­i­na­tion pro­gram.

The lists have been com­piled by judg­ing pan­els in each state and ter­ri­tory.

Be­narkin School is very proud of Sage’s achieve­ments since start­ing in Prep.

Sage will be given a uni­form to wear as she car­ries the ba­ton that will be­come a trea­sured keep­sake of her spe­cial role in GC2018.

Sage will run in the Kil­coy sec­tion of the re­lay on Tues­day, March 27, next year.
