To market, to market
Residents get ready to share wares
ORANA Aged Care residents have proven they have plenty to offer the community by organising, crafting and cooking in preparation for the upcoming Orana Hilltop Markets.
Orana Aged Care creative programs and volunteer coordinator Katrina Hughes said the markets would help the residents stay involved with the community.
“The residents at Orana have been very busy helping put these markets together and have been creating artwork, craft items, jams and relishes to sell at their own stalls,” Ms Hughes said.
The inaugural Orana Hilltop Markets are also open to members of the community and the centre has received bookings from lots of different businesses for the event.
“We have got sites booked by Scentsy, Forget Me Nots, kid’s face painting, homemade 50’s clothing, a kaftan designer, slumped wine bottles and so many more,” Ms Hughes said.
“So far we have 33 stalls and the list is growing.”
On the day, market-goers will be entertained by entertainers and there will be raffles, food, tea and coffee and cold drinks.
Ms Hughes said she was hopeful the markets would become a regular event that would continue to grow.
“The residents are all buzzing, they are looking
forward to the day and cannot wait to have members of the community come to their home and share this day with them,” she said.
The Orana Hilltop Markets will be held on Saturday, November 24 from 8am to 1pm.
