Cine­fest re­visit

THE South Western

Times is tak­ing a look back over the Cine­festOZ Film Fes­ti­val’s his­tory in cel­e­bra­tion of its 10-year an­niver­sary across 10 weeks.

This week we travel back to 2011, where the fes­ti­val was launched with the first pub­lic screen­ing of Red Dog, at­tended by spe­cial guest pro­ducer Nel­son Woss and star at­trac­tion Koko.

A record nine Aus­tralian fea­ture films screened at the fes­ti­val in which di­rec­tor Fred Schep­isi and ac­tor David Wen­ham re­ceived Cine­festOZ Screen Le­gend awards.

In the same year, the fes­ti­val saw the first pre­miere screen­ings held in Bun­bury and Mar­garet River, 900 stu­dents at­tended the Ci­nes­naps Schools Pro­gram and the first Di­rec­tors Lunch was held at Arav­ina Es­tate.
