Of­fi­cer con­cussed

A BUN­BURY po­lice of­fi­cer was left with mild con­cus­sion after a mo­tor­cy­clist al­legedly led po­lice on a chase through Withers on Tues­day.

Po­lice tried to stop a man rid­ing an al­leged stolen mo­tor­cy­cle with no reg­is­tra­tion plate on Wash­ing­ton Av­enue about 2pm be­fore he al­legedly ig­nored a di­rec­tion to stop.

The man al­legedly tried to ride through a pedes­trian area but lost con­trol in sand.

He then al­legedly tried to run from po­lice but was tack­led by an of­fi­cer through a me­tal fence, caus­ing the of­fi­cer to hit his head and lose con­scious­ness mo­men­tar­ily.

The man was even­tu­ally ar­rested by po­lice.

A 31-year-old Carey Park man has been charged with a string of of­fences and will ap­pear in court at a later date.

South West traf­fic po­lice of­fi­cerin-charge Sgt Craig Clarke said the of­fi­cer had a mild con­cus­sion but was due back at work to­day.
