Top ap­pren­tices go toe to toe

AM­BI­TIOUS cab­i­net mak­ing and brick­lay­ing and block­lay­ing stu­dents un­der 24 years of age com­peted in the Re­gional WorldSkills com­pe­ti­tion at South Re­gional TAFE on Fri­day.

Com­peti­tors were judged by in­dus­try ex­perts for the right to com­pete in the 2018 WorldSkills Na­tional Cham­pi­onships in Syd­ney. Cab­i­net mak­ing stu­dents had six hours to con­struct a project down to the last de­tail, while the brick­lay­ing and block­lay­ing stu­dents un­der­went an ac­tion-packed “speed test” after they had com­pleted an in­tri­cate project. Win­ners are yet to be an­nounced.
