Firefighter wins trip to grand final
PEMBERTON business owner and firefighter Greg Hamlyn has won the ultimate football trip and is jetting off to Melbourne for the AFL Grand Final this week.
Mr Hamlyn entered the Statewide competition run by The West Australian Regional Newspapers after making a purchase at the Pemberton General Store.
Mr Hamlyn said he was “ecstatic” to win the prize worth more than $5000 that includes game tickets, flights and accommodation.
“I want to thank West Australian Newspapers for the competition, it’s a fantastic prize and you never think you’re going to win something like that,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to the energy of a 100,000seat stadium.”
The West Coast Eagles supporter said although his team did not make it to the grand final he was still excited to attend and enjoy the atmosphere. Pemberton General Store owners Lionel Lee and Sheree Starling-Lee said they were happy that someone from Pemberton won the competition.
The competition ran in newspapers across Western Australia, including the South Western Times, and attracted more than 5000 entries.
