Polocrosse riders head to Capel
CAPEL Polocrosse Club will host the WA Polocrosse Club Championships this weekend at the Capel Equestrian Grounds.
Club captain Jake Klein said the event was expected to attract about 40 clubs from around the State.
“There will be clubs coming from north of Geraldton but it will be mainly clubs from Geraldton down to Kojonup and around Albany,” he said.
“This will be really good exposure for the sport within our region.
“We don’t get to hold many events of this size in our region, most of them are held around Perth.”
Klein said he decided to take up the sport as a change to other equestrian competitions.
“Coming through from a young age I was a bit tired of some of the normal riding events so I wanted to try something a bit different,” he said.

“He has been involved in the sport for around 40-odd years and he really got me to enjoy it.”
Klein said he expected spectators to really enjoy the competition and he hoped there would be a good crowd at the event.

“It is quite thrilling and there is a lot of action that you don’t get to see in any other sport.”
Games will start at 8am on Saturday with finals scheduled for Sunday.
Entry for spectators is free but because it is an equestrian event there is a strict no dogs policy.
