Fun run boost from Chefs’ Long Ta­ble Lunch

THE South West Academy of Sport has wel­comed the news its an­nual fun run and re­lay will be boosted next year with fund­ing from the Chefs’ Long Ta­ble Lunch.

SWAS chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer Ber­nice But­lion said the grant would go to­wards elec­tronic tim­ing for the in­creas­ingly pop­u­lar race around the Leschenault In­let.

“This valu­able fund­ing will en­able us to once again de­liver a pro­fes­sional sport­ing event for peo­ple of all ages and abil­i­ties to take part in,” she said.

“We are grate­ful for the sup­port re­ceived from this com­mu­nity event – it’s great to see money raised flow­ing back to the com­mu­nity and fur­ther con­tribut­ing to the so­cial fab­ric of Bun­bury.”

Chefs’ Long Ta­ble Lunch chair­man Doug Green said the level two grant cat­e­gory was strongly con­tested and SWAS could be proud it had been se­lected as a ben­e­fi­ciary.

“The com­mit­tee will watch as you ex­pand your fun run and at­tract greater num­bers of teach­ers, stu­dents, par­ents and the com­mu­nity,” he said.

“The event is cer­tainly a good fit­ness train­ing mo­ti­va­tor with the academy’s ath­letes set­ting the pace and be­ing on hand as role mod­els.”
