Fun run boost from Chefs’ Long Table Lunch
THE South West Academy of Sport has welcomed the news its annual fun run and relay will be boosted next year with funding from the Chefs’ Long Table Lunch.
SWAS chief executive officer Bernice Butlion said the grant would go towards electronic timing for the increasingly popular race around the Leschenault Inlet.
“This valuable funding will enable us to once again deliver a professional sporting event for people of all ages and abilities to take part in,” she said.
“We are grateful for the support received from this community event – it’s great to see money raised flowing back to the community and further contributing to the social fabric of Bunbury.”
Chefs’ Long Table Lunch chairman Doug Green said the level two grant category was strongly contested and SWAS could be proud it had been selected as a beneficiary.
“The committee will watch as you expand your fun run and attract greater numbers of teachers, students, parents and the community,” he said.
“The event is certainly a good fitness training motivator with the academy’s athletes setting the pace and being on hand as role models.”
