Po­lice al­lege man and dog bashed

A PET dog lost an eye af­ter an al­leged bru­tal at­tack by a man armed with a base­ball bat in Usher last week.

The 25-year-old owner of the Ger­man shep­herd was also in­jured when he was al­legedly tack­led to the ground and as­saulted as he walked his dog along Lars­son Place about 9.15am on Thurs­day.

Po­lice al­lege the man was ap­proached by two men known to him in a car.

It is al­leged one man tack­led the vic­tim to the ground and as­saulted him, while the other at­tacked the dog with a metal base­ball bat be­fore try­ing to hit the vic­tim.

A 29-year-old With­ers man has been charged with as­sault oc­ca­sion­ing bod­ily harm, cru­elty to an­i­mals and be­ing armed in a way that may cause fear and a 31-yearold Usher man has been charged with threat­en­ing to kill and as­sault oc­ca­sion­ing bod­ily harm.
