TAB approved for Hungry Hollow

A BETTING terminal has been approved for Hungry Hollow Beach Bar and Grill despite arguments around gambling and social issues.

Bunbury City Council this week endorsed the PubTAB betting terminal at the Ocean Drive tavern.

Resident Barry Bairstow told the council gambling was the “antithesis” of improving the community and the application should be rejected.

But councillors argued that while they were sympathetic to problems around gambling, the proposal was legal and if knocked back, would be costly to the community by eventually going to the State Administrative Tribunal. A co-owner previously said the tavern was trying to attract all demographics to the facility and the pub had a “great atmosphere”.
