Tents to protect the homeless

BUNBURY drug support group Doors Wide Open has welcomed a donation of 15 tents from the Apex Club of Bunbury Koombana to give homeless people a roof over their heads this winter.

Doors Wide Open operations manager Lina Pugh said the donation would help people recovering from drug addiction find a place to stay away from fellow addicts and dealers.

“The tents themselves are going to make a huge difference for the people we work with,” she said.

“We are going to be able to provide them with some cover through the winter.

“One of the things that we are trying to do is gather some more money together so we can pay for things like a couple of night’s camp fees.

“To Apex we are eternally grateful for the opportunity to be able to give these people a tent and say you are going to be OK for a couple of nights.”

Ms Pugh said the organisation was constantly looking for donations to help people recover from drug addiction.
