Dour struggles as teams get down to business
GOALS were hard to come by in the South West Hockey League women’s competition, as the places for finals heats up.
Marist kept themselves within striking distance of top spot with a 1-0 win over TownsSouth at the Bunbury Hockey Stadium on Friday night.
Heather Bolhuis scored the only goal for the Blues, with Courtney Barton and Pia Kirk starring for the winners.
Georgina Dowd and Charli Wicksteed were solid for TownsSouth, who are fighting for a spot in the top four.
Associates put themselves into finals contention with a fantastic 2-0 win over Collie at the Collie Hockey Stadium on Sunday.
Tahnee Gibbons and Denby Lynn scored for Associates to get them their eighth win for the year.
Battlers Exies and Capel played out a nil-all draw, with both teams trying to get an elusive win.
Heavyweights Boyanup and Robins also drew, with both teams scoring a goal in their clash in Busselton on Sunday.
The All Blacks scored through Shonel Vuletich, while Robins’ goalscorer was Jordana Baynon.
This weekend Collie host Robins up the hill, while Capel take on TownsSouth.
Associates and Exies play on Sunday at the Bunbury Hockey Stadium from 12.15pm, followed by the second-placed Marist and the competition’s best side in Boyanup that afternoon.
