Art highlights nature of Preston River Valley

South Western Times - - News -

A new art event named Art . . . Naturally is being launched on November 3 and 4 along the Preston River Valley to promote the region.

Promote Preston spokeswoman and event organiser Fi Richardson said 22 textile artists from the broader Bunbury Geographe region had entered pieces into the For the Love of Nature textile fine art competition as part of the event.

“The Preston River Valley is a beautiful part of the South West, with forests of jarrah and marri right on our doorstep,” she said.

“This made it easy to choose ‘for the love of nature’ as our theme.

“This exhibition will be judged by highly regarded Noongar artist Sandra Hill and renowned Ferguson Valley artist Jan Hart.”

Ms Richardson said the Preston River Valley community is a creative and supportive one.

“We are excited to promote our valley and showcase textile fine art which historically has had little exposure,” she said.

“We are fortunate to have a collection of talented artists working in different media who are opening their studios, some for the first time, for the art trail which travels along the Donnybrook-Boyup Brook Road.”
