Bulls see Tornadoes Red in top-of-the table clash

South Western Times - - Sport -

Bulls and Tornadoes Red meet in a top-of-the-table Bunbury Basketball Association senior men’s clash tomorrow night at the South West Sports Centre.

The reigning champions Bulls — who have been in blistering form to start the season — have been equally impressive across both offence and defence.

Both margins of victory have been in excess of 42 points and if Red are to cause a boilover, they are going to have to put the brakes on Travis Durnin, who is already averaging 28.5 points per game this season.

Red have defeated association newcomers Dunsborough Oilers and Eaton Eagles over the past fortnight, with tomorrow night arguably a true reflection on how they stack up against a perennial superpower.

Tornadoes Black, who have only suited up once this season, can also remain undefeated if they overcome a spirited Oilers team.

After a credible debut loss against Aces Sky, the Dunsborough-based outfit took another step forward last week and could be primed for a maiden victory.

The Oilers, who did secure a maiden A-Women victory last week, take on fellow .500 team Tornadoes Red.

A huge focal point of the Oilers’ offence has been the combination of Adele and Dana East — something which the Red defenders will need to keep in mind when locking down the keyway.

In the remaining game of the round, winless Aces Sky host unbeaten Tornadoes Black.

It’s been a challenging start to the season for Sky, who are currently the only side yet to win a game.

Black, who are riding high on top of the ladder, put their foot on the gas in Friday’s victory over sister side Tornadoes Red — going on a domineering 26-0 run in the final five and a half minutes of play.
