Lyn walks for a good cause
LYN Whelan is an animal lover.
The South Perth resident has taken part in almost every RSPCA Million Paws Walk since 2000 and this year she will do it again when it takes place on the South Perth Foreshore on May 21.
Mrs Whelan will walk with her husband and their poodle Mystique.
“I’ve always loved animals since I was a kid,” she said. “I became a member of the RSPCA in Port Hedland, where I previously lived.
“Over the years, I’ve had budgies, chickens, dogs, cats and lots of fish.
“I’ve walked because I support them, because they oppose cruelty to animals; I personally oppose live animal exports and I’m hoping they get a little more ‘oomph’ to end that as well.
“I’ll be thinking about that issue when I walk, because it’s something important to me.”
Registration for Million Paws Walk, including the Million Paws Challenge, is available online at www.millionpawswalk.com.au.
There is an option to register individually or as a group, with rewards for reaching fundraising milestones to remind everyone why their support is so important.
Participants at the walk can choose between a 1km, 2.5km or 5km course.
On the day, there will be a fun doggy obstacle course to navigate as well as a range of other activities to enjoy, including the Vetwest Pet Parade.
