Police Rangers return
THE Kensington Police and Community Youth Centre (PCYC) is now taking enrolments for youth aged 11 years and above for its Police Rangers program.
Police Rangers is an adventure-based, youth development activity offered in partnership with Cadets WA, open to young people of high school age.
The program is designed to increase youth self-confidence, leadership ability, team building skills and self-esteem.
Centre manager Amanda Dow said participants would take part in a number of games and activities, indoors and outdoors.
“There is orienteering, basketball, helping out during Anzac Day and lots of activities,” she said.
“We held the program a few years ago and now we are looking at bringing it back.
“I’m quite excited to get it up and running, we’ve got about six nominations so far and we are aiming for about 15 d472740 and then we will start the program around the middle of September.”
Ms Dow said participants would be able to do the program for many years and move up the ranks to eventually become a Police Ranger instructor.
The program will be delivered on Monday nights by volunteer Police Ranger instructors.
