Mar­kets on the Mends

THE City of South Perth is work­ing with con­sul­tants Spaced Out and lo­cal res­i­dent group South Perth Ac­ti­va­tion Net­work to sup­port lo­cal ac­tiv­i­ties in the Mends Street area as part of the Con­nect South project.

Mends Street Farm­ers Mar­ket will be the first project by the South Perth Ac­ti­va­tion Net­work.

The mar­kets will run from 8am to noon ev­ery Sun­day from Oc­to­ber 1. There will be art ac­tiv­i­ties, mu­sic and a se­lec­tion of fresh food stalls.

Stage one of the Con­nect South project fo­cuses on Mends Street be­tween Mill Point Road and the fore­shore along with parts of the South Perth Es­planade.

It aims to de­velop a pi­azza on the fore­shore, as well as streetscape and amenity im­prove­ments, land­scap­ing up­grades and ac­tiv­i­ties.

Com­mu­nity and stake­holder con­sul­ta­tion has pro­vided some ideas for ac­tiv­i­ties and de­signs.
