City gears up to fight mozzies
AS the days heat up and mosquito season begins, the City of Belmont says it is ready to combat the pests. Acting chief executive Robin Garrett said the City has been providing a proactive mosquito monitoring and treatment program for years. It is aware of a number of areas with higher than normal mosquito activity around the Swan River, in particular around Kuljak Island, Ascot Waters and Garvey Park. “As most mosquitoes have the potential to be vectors of disease, all complaints are responded to with a view to controlling or removing potential mosquito breeding locations,” Mr Garrett said.
