RED CARPET ON THE FAIRWAY
SPORT and fashion will merge next month as part of a collaboration between Scarborough designer Lauren Chaplin and Nexus Risk TSA Group WA Open.
The Fashionable Saturdays Ladies Long Luncheon at the Royal Perth Golf Club will have the pocket rocket launch her label LJ Chaplin’s summer collection.
Chaplin, who took some time away from the industry after starting in 2013, said she was refreshed and ready to get back into it.
“When I initially launched, I was taking a gamble as I was entering the fashion world from a completely different industry, so any success I received I deemed as a bonus,” she said.
“After a busy 12 months, a career promotion at my place of work, combined with a bout of heartbreak, the label was at a standstill.
“Earlier this year I took on a new role in sport at GolfWA and I have been able to dedicate more time to the label and I feel refreshed, re-energised and my designs reflect this.”
A keen golfer and netballer, Chaplin said she loved that she was able to combine her two passions of sport and fashion to create an event women would enjoy and believed her love of sport shone through in her designs.
“It’s a day where fashion and sport collide,” she said.
“Being involved in sport, my designs are classic, reliable and quality go-to pieces that will not let you down, similar to how you rely on your team mate on the netball court to shoot the goal or that Callaway driver you invested in to ensure you hit long and straight down the fairway.
“The latter I’m sure is debatable for some golfers out there.”
The luncheon will feature fellow WA labels Jessica Bratich and Jonte, plus stylist Juvelle Behrendorff. Belinda Cipriano
