Southern Gazette (Belmont) - - COMMUNITY CLASSIFIEDS | SPORT -

PAUL Mamotte celebrated his 100th game in style as the Perth Blitz pulled off a remarkable 20-14 comefrom-behind victory over the West Coast Wolverines at James Miller Oval on Saturday.

Receiver Mamotte scored the winning touchdown with 25 seconds remaining after his brother Gary helped set up the game-winning drive with a crucial interception earlier in the fourth quarter.

The Blitz fought back from a 14-8 half-time deficit, as Munya Matema scored his second touchdown in the game to draw scores level. In the dying seconds, a massive bump from cornerback Aidan Spencer on a Wolverines receiver ensured the deep pass would not give Wolverines any chance to score.

The win was scrappy in a hard-fought encounter but it moves Blitz to three wins and three losses after six rounds.

In the women’s match the table-topping Blitz also tasted victory, winning 40-8.

Quarterback Lou Devine-Egan threw three touchdowns from 151 yards, while linebacker Rhyanna Edbrooke returned after a week off to have seven combined tackles, as well as causing a fumble.

The Blitz remain undefeated after four games, two games clear of the second-placed Wolverines.

In the junior competition, Wolverines forfeited.

In round 7, the Blitz welcome Westside Steelers to James Miller Oval on Saturday.

Juniors kick off proceedings at 2pm and seniors play at 4pm.

Women next play in round 10 when Blitz hosts Perth Broncos.
