Southern Gazette (Belmont) - - STREET WATCH -

POLICE are appealing for help to identify a man they believe may be able to assist them with investigations into a theft offence. On January 10 about 6pm, a woman left her mobile phone on a table in a seating area on Belmont Avenue, Belmont. CCTV footage shows a man (right), described as 40-50 years old, thin, medium build and clean shaven, approaching the mobile phone on the table, picking it up and walking away. Within a short time of the theft, the ‘findaphone’ app was activated and a signal from the phone was picked up in the Mirrabooka area. The man was last seen wearing a hi-vis yellow and blue long sleeve shirt, blue long pants and brown work boots.

POLICE have released a CCTV image of some people who they believe may be able to assist them with an investigation. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services were notified of a fire at the back of a store at a shopping centre on Belmont Avenue in Belmont on February 2, about 2am. The men shown in the picture (right) were seen in the area around the time of the fire that caused about $25,000 damage to the external aspect of the store and may be able to assist police with their inquiries.
