NBN edges closer to Swan residents

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - Kensington -

ABOUT 6,000 households and businesses in Swan are closer to accessing the National Broadband Network, with construction on the fibre-to-the-premises network and additional build preparation work now underway.

Swan MHR Steve Irons said Telstra had finalised remediation of infrastructure in South Perth which meant that in coming weeks, NBN Co subcontractors would be out in the streets and laying out fibre.

“Work will also be visible in Como as preconstruction activity begins, such as the clear- ing of Telstra’s pits and ducts for approximately 2,700 premises,” he said.

“I am pleased to see that work on the NBN build and construction phases are now systematically progressing throughout Swan, and I look forward to Como residents and businesses gaining access to this fast and reliable broadband service.”

Detailed maps are available at nbnco.com.au/maps which show construction progress including green shaded areas for the ‘build preparation’ phase.
