Pagan religions inspire artworks
ARTIST Godfrey Blow’s latest exhibition Landscape,Sea andBeyond is showing at Harvison Gallery from September 7 to 28. The solo exhibition will feature a selection of the contemporary artist’s latest paintings and drawings of landscape images from Australia, Ireland and the British Isles. “The forests, fields, hedgerows, ruins, waterways and oceans feature strongly in my recent works,” Blow said. “Figurative images are integrated into landscape forms, which create works of imaginative power. The philosophy behind the artwork comes from the ancient pagan religions of the British Isles, combined and contrasting with Christian iconography.” Harvison Gallery is at 195 Brisbane Street, Perth and is open 11am-5pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
