THE Cancer Council’s free Life Now program will be available in East Victoria Park from September 23.

The Life Now 12-week exercise program includes aerobic and resistance training in a group environment, facilitated by a qualified exercise physiologist.

Exercise can help overcome some of the common side effects of treatment such as nausea, fatigue and depression. It is also the best way to enhance recovery post treatment. During the program, participants will have a one-on-one assessment with the exercise physiologist and receive a personalised gym program.

“The fact our classes are specifically designed for cancer patients and their carers’ gives participants confidence they will be part of a safe and supportive environment,” said Life Now program manager Lani Valentine.

“The classes also aim to help cancer patients cope better with pain as well as manage the stress and anxiety that many people experience.”

The program will be held at the Leisurelife Centre in East Victoria Park and registrations are essential by visiting www.cancerwa.asn.au or call 13 11 20.
