Foreshore plan ready to go

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - South Perth -

EIGHT objectives have been established in the City of South Perth’s South Perth Foreshore Strategy and Management Plan, which was made available online on Friday.

They include more opportunities for social activity and to improve accessibility and connectivity.

After an extensive planning and community engagement process, the plan will be presented to council for adoption later this month.

It outlines the findings from background investigation and stakeholder engagement undertaken since 2012.

It prioritises 10 nodes or areas of the foreshore and lists strategies for the future of the reserve.

City of South Perth Mayor Sue Doherty said the plan would guide the management of the foreshore into the future.

“The aim of the plan is to balance the competing demands for use, development and management of this precious regional public open space,” she said.

She said the plan identified the most appropriate combination of uses for the foreshore.

Perth Waters Riverpark is a circuit of parkland of more than 10 kilometres including the South Perth Foreshore.

Whole of foreshore strategies and the ten nodes.
