Spectators chill out as suits shiver

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - South-east Metro -

FLIPPERS, goggles, boardies and flotation rings were appropriate attire for two Victoria Park men we usually only see dressed in suit and tie, when they accepted the global Ice Bucket Challenge craze last week.

Victoria Park Mayor Trevor Vaughan and acting chief executive Anthony Vuleta attracted quite a crowd as they gathered at the pop-up seating adjacent to Café Gelato on Albany Highway for the spectacle.

Nominated by café owner Omeed Mehdi, the pair have since nominated Crown Resorts chief executive Barry Felstead and Crown Perth legal manager Joshua Preston to follow suit.

“You can probably tell by our reactions that the water was cold enough to put hairs on your chest!” Mr Vaughan said. “It is my understanding that Café Gelato will be donating $100 and the Town $150.”
