Put skills to use helping others

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - Friends In The Community - VICKI MORRELL

HAVE you noticed how much energy older Australians have these days?

Being almost a “one-stop shop”, Southcare offers a variety of positions where seniors can use the skills they have developed over many years.

Whether it is in our aged care department administering home care packages, in the New Horizons Activity Centre, at the Op Shop, the Mankara low-cost supermarket, on reception, in administration or as a community driver or visitor, we see happy, smiling seniors.

Keeping busy and socially connected ensures seniors stay enthusiastic about life.

It is also great to know you are still useful and skills learned either at work or in the home are worthwhile.

Sometimes retired people don’t want to make a commitment because they travel, but as long as we are given notice, other volunteers can cover for you.

If you have been thinking about giving something back to the community, consider joining our team as it will provide a few hours of varied weekly work with like-minded people.
