Cyclists can’t wait for hellish ride

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - Sport -

SOUTH Perth’s Katie Joyce and Como’s Andrew Williams will be among those taking on hell this weekend. Hell of the North that is.

Lancelin-Hell of the North is a one-day spring classic being held on Sunday and it has attracted a field of 400 cyclists.

It is a Gran Fondo event, where riders can participate as an individual, in pairs or as part of a team.

The event has two courses – 95km and 140km.

This year, the race will include a sanctioned handicapped race.

The sanctioned race will fea- ture a cohort of Perth’s elite riders, who have taken on an ambassador role for the race.

The ambassadors are members of the Satalyst Giant Racing Team who compete in the National Road Series.

Williams, who rides with Satalyst Giant, will be tackling the race for the first time.

“The course is pretty uncompromising but am looking forward to a good hit-out and hopefully getting on the winner’s podium,” he said.

Online registrations close today.

Katie Joyce.
