Cygnet set to re-open
LOCAL cinema lovers have no fear, the Cygnet Cinema will be open and running again soon.
The cinema has closed it doors while electrical fixtures are upgraded and other improvements are made to the building.
Colin Stiles of Grand Cinemas, the son of the late James Stiles who opened the cinema in 1938, said Grand Cinemas were planning to improve the sound and other aspects of the theatrical presentation in the cinema.
Cinema operator Graham Kahn will not be returning to the cinema. Mr Kahn said his time at the Cygnet had been enjoyable, but it was time to ease back from the pressure of running a business.
He said he would miss seeing the many people who love the ambience of the cinema.
