Canning Bridge vision nears fruition
A LONG-awaited plan for the future of the Canning Bridge area has been presented to the City of South Perth and will be released publicly for comment.
The Canning Bridge structure plan and design guidelines were endorsed at last week’s council meeting.
A vision for the area was first developed by the cities of South Perth and Melville and the WA Planning Commission in 2011. The plan includes commercial and residential buildings, on both sides of Canning Bridge, and a focus on making use of the nearby train station and bus routes.
Mixed-use buildings will be allowed up to 15 storeys, possibly higher under certain circumstances, and residential buildings to eight storeys.
The plan is open for comment for 42 days. The City of Melville has endorsed the plan.
